Mastopexy can benefit a patient whose breasts have lost shape with aging or after the effects of pregnancy. It can also be a consideration for younger patients who, for reasons of heredity or developmental disturbance, have been left with a "downward-cast" appearance to the breast. In this surgery, the skin of the breast is re tailored to produce more roundness and prominence. Also, where needed, the nipple is moved to a higher, more prominent position on the breast gland. In some circumstances, modifications may also be made in the depth of the breast and special efforts made to suspend the breast from chest wall tissues.
